One year as a bit of an experiment, UCSD decided to hold its own battle of the bands in the fall of 2006 during their open house.
It was a relatively small event and for some reason or another UCSD ended up asking us if we could keep the battle going for longer. Because it was early in the school year we hadn't practiced much music and didn't bring much with us either. So eventually we started playing through our shorties including the 9 second long Woodwind Cheer. We even had the brass players that had memorized the Tetris theme for fun play as the rest of us pretended to be blocks dropping in various shapes in front of them. It was a pretty ridiculous time.
