I got this kind of randomly as a gift from one of my old roommates. I'm not even sure it was for a specific occasion. I did quite enjoy the movie Lilo and Stitch. It's probably my third favorite kid befriends a creature from outer space movie (behind E.T. and the Iron Giant).
